1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Crucible ("Service"), operated by Crucible Development Group LLC ("Company," "we," "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Crucible is an online platform where software engineers practice identifying and fixing bugs in sandboxed codebases. The Service includes access to coding challenges, automated verification, AI-assisted code review, and a portfolio of completed work.
3. Accounts
You must authenticate via GitHub to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and all activity under it. You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction.
4. Subscriptions and Payment
- Free Tier: Limited access to a set number of introductory challenges at no cost.
- Paid License: A time-limited license granting full access to all challenges and features. Pricing and duration are displayed on the pricing page at the time of purchase.
All payments are processed by our payment provider. By purchasing, you authorize the charge displayed at checkout. Prices are in USD and may change; existing licenses are honored at the price paid.

6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Share your account credentials or session tokens with others.
- Attempt to access other users' data, repos, or submissions.
- Use automated tools to scrape, copy, or bulk-download challenge content.
- Submit malicious code intended to damage the Service or its infrastructure.
- Resell, redistribute, or publicly post challenge solutions.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
7. Intellectual Property
All challenge content, platform code, and branding are owned by the Company. Your submitted code fixes remain yours, but you grant us a license to use them for verification, portfolio display, and service improvement. Your portfolio entries are yours to share publicly.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with GitHub for authentication and code hosting. Your use of GitHub is governed by GitHub's own terms. We are not responsible for third-party service availability or changes.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or that challenges will match any particular real-world scenario.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Company's total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these terms. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon termination, your access to challenges ends but your portfolio data can be exported before deletion.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law principles.
